Škoda Auto – Accelerating Digital Transformation with Connected Vehicles

About the Customer

Škoda Auto, one of Europe’s leading automotive manufacturers, sought to accelerate its digital transformation to support connected vehicle technologies, optimize its global supply chain, and drive innovation in electric vehicle (EV) development. To achieve these objectives, Škoda needed a scalable, secure, and cloud-native infrastructure capable of processing massive volumes of data generated from connected cars, third-party APIs, and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

Customer Challenge

Škoda Auto’s legacy on-premises infrastructure limited its ability to scale, innovate, and deliver real-time data services for connected vehicles. Without modernization, the company faced several critical business risks:

  • Operational inefficiency: Limited elasticity and manual provisioning caused delays in development and deployment cycles.
  • Reduced competitiveness: Inability to deliver data-driven services for connected cars and EVs risked market share loss.
  • Compliance and governance gaps: Fragmented logging, identity management, and lack of unified security controls created exposure.
  • Business impact: Slower innovation, higher operational costs, and reduced ability to compete in the rapidly evolving automotive market.

Our Solution

Škoda Auto partnered with us to design and implement a secure and scalable AWS-based platform supporting connected mobility services, data-driven manufacturing, and modern DevOps operations.
The project delivered a robust, production-grade environment for Škoda’s Connect Platform.

Results and Benefits

The migration and modernization of Škoda Auto’s connected vehicle systems to AWS delivered significant business and operational outcomes:

  • System availability: Increased to 99.9% through multi-AZ design and automated failover.
  • Deployment speed: Release cycles shortened from weeks to hours with CI/CD automation.
  • Security and compliance: 100% adherence to governance standards verified within 24 hours of account creation.
  • Innovation acceleration: Cloud-native infrastructure now enables AI/ML, predictive maintenance, and personalization use cases for connected vehicle services.

The AWS platform now serves as the foundation for Škoda Auto’s ongoing digital transformation and future modernization initiatives.

Raiffeisen Bank Czech Republic

About the Customer

A top-tier Czech bank operating in a highly regulated financial environment and serving millions of retail and business customers. As customer expectations for digital banking rapidly evolved, the bank required a secure, scalable, and modern application platform capable of supporting innovation while meeting strict regulatory and operational standards.

Customer challenge:

The bank faced mounting pressure to deliver secure, scalable, and personalized digital banking experiences while simultaneously maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Their existing on-premise architecture limited scalability, slowed innovation, and relied heavily on custom-built components that increased maintenance overhead.

Without addressing these limitations, the bank faced significant short- and long-term risks, including:

  • Slower innovation cycles and inability to roll out new digital features at competitive speed
  • Increasing infrastructure and operational costs associated with managing legacy systems
  • Reduced agility in responding to market shifts and new cybersecurity requirements
  • Operational and regulatory risk from outdated systems and unscalable architectures
  • Erosion of competitive position among leading Czech financial institutions

Trask Solution

We refactored the bank’s digital banking platform into a modern, hybrid-cloud architecture on AWS, leveraging their existing container-based design. Core application components were deployed on Amazon ECS with ECR, API Gateway was introduced as the unified entry point for secure API management, and key legacy systems such as the custom search engine, caching layer, and MS SQL database were modernized using AWS-managed services including OpenSearch, ElastiCache, and Aurora PostgreSQL. AWS DMS enabled a low-downtime database migration, while WAF and Shield Advanced strengthened the security posture. The front-end was streamlined using AWS Amplify, and essential connectivity to internal banking systems was preserved through a hybrid model. This design balanced modernization with delivery speed, risk reduction, and alignment to cloud strategy.

Results and benefits:

  • Improved reliability and performance through the use of fully managed, multi-AZ AWS services, resulting in a more stable and responsive digital banking experience.
  • Reduced operational workload and technical debt, lowering long-term maintenance costs and decreasing dependency on internal database administrators.
  • Enhanced security posture with AWS-native protection layers that strengthen the application against modern threats.
  • Zero disruption to business operations, thanks to a hybrid design that maintained seamless connectivity to critical on-premise systems during and after migration.
  • Greater agility and future readiness, enabling faster innovation and providing a scalable foundation for the bank’s ongoing cloud-native evolution.

Moneta Money Bank

Customer Overview

The customer is a major Central European financial institution serving over one million retail and SME clients. With a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees, the bank is recognized as a digital innovation leader in its market. To maintain competitiveness, the organization prioritizes modernization of core IT systems to improve resilience, accelerate service delivery, and ensure full regulatory compliance.

Customer challenge

The bank needed to modernize its legacy IBM-based Document Management System and DB2 database that supported mission-critical banking operations. The on-premises platform lacked scalability, incurred rising maintenance costs, and became increasingly risky due to the discontinuation of IBM’s supported AWS solution.

Key Challenges

  • Legacy DMS and DB2 infrastructure could not scale to meet growing digital demand
  • Increasing operational risk and high maintenance overhead
  • Limited ability to innovate or deliver new digital services quickly
  • Need for a secure, compliant cloud platform with minimal application changes
  • Risk of falling behind competitors and regulatory expectations

Trasks Solution

Starting with a proof of concept that validated IBM Content Manager and DB2 workloads on AWS. Based on this, Trask designed and implemented a replatforming strategy enabling migration with minimal code changes while ensuring high availability, cost efficiency, and operational automation. The solution incorporated multi-AZ deployments, HADR for DB2, S3Intelligent-Tiering for efficient storage, secure hybrid connectivity via Direct Connect, and automated operations using AWS-native tools.

Results and benefits

  • Improved Resilience: Multi-AZ HADR and automated failover reduced downtime risk for critical banking processes.
  • Cost Optimization: Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering significantly lowered archive storage costs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: The architecture met strict financial-sector security and compliance requirements.
  • Operational Efficiency: Automation and AWS-managed services reduced required maintenance effort.
  • Future Readiness: The new AWS platform established a scalable foundation for further modernization and cloud-native development.
